Steve got home on Friday night and it was sooooooooooooooooo good to see him!!!! It's just not the same when he's not here! He had a 'good' week in Iowa as far as productivity and getting a lot of things done. The company was glad to have him come up and help out. They're doing a bunch of roof repairs that has backlogged the company, but Steve and the other guy that went with him really got a ton done and so they wanted him to come back this week and possibly next week to get things done. They have a lot of work at the moment with that. So, it looks like he'll be in Iowa for the next two weeks. I am bummed that he's not here; however, thankful that he has work for at least 2 weeks! lol The good news is that they decided they're going to work 4 days, 10 -hr. days, so that they can come home Thursday night instead! Yeah!!! So, we'll have a 3-day weekend, for which I'm thankful!
We just hung out as a family and watched a movie together on Friday night. Then, on Saturday we spent most of the day getting Brennan ready for camp. We had done a lot all week, but Steve's so great at organizing everything and really got a better set up for him. And, then that afternoon, we took him to camp. He was beyond nervous and yet beyond excited! lol
There are about 300 kids going to Awakening Teen Camp at IHOP this session. The place was a madhouse! lol But, all the leaders were so friendly and in a good mood and very welcoming, but there was lots to do! It took about 1 1/2 hours to get him through the entire registration process, but we got it done.
It was hard to leave him there, knowing that I won't talk to him for 2 weeks! :( But, we're really excited about this opportunity, too. I love that they've included a skateboarding track this year...he's so excited to be able to skateboard and do ministry, too! He loves watching these skateboarding DVDs called, "Livin It", where they do skateboarding tricks and BMX biking and share the gospel all over the US, so to be able to do it himself really excites him. We're excited to see what God is going to do in his life over the next couple weeks.
Saturday night we just hung out together again.
Then, on Sunday we went to church and then for Father's Day we took Steve to an Indian Restaurant in Overland Park. He loves Indian food, but we've never gone here in KC, so we let him pick and found a good Indian restaurant nearby. He loved it and was so excited to have authentic Indian Food as it's been a long time! Nate was not impressed with all the spices, but had a good attitude on behalf of Dad! lol I liked it, but they didn't keep enough water in my glass for all the spices! My mouth was burning and I didn't even have the stuff labeled "spicy". But, Indian has such a great flavor and it was really good. We enjoyed ourselves and Steve was glad to go there. It was so wierd to spend the day without Brennan, but we are also enjoying some more one-on-one time with just Nate, too, and I think he's loving all the attention. lol
Nate was invited to some friends' on Sunday afternoon, and then they called and asked if he could spend the night, so we let him and got to spend the entire evening alone! Wooohoooo -- that was a special treat!
We got to have a mini-date and went for a walk and just got to spend some alone time together, which was wonderful and we loved every minute of being together! And now, reality is here and Steve had to leave this morning again.........sigh..........I hate it when he has to leave! Especially after such a wonderful weekend together, it's hard to see him go. But, I'm so thankful he'll be home in just 4 days this week! Yeah! That's definitely something to look forward to! :)
