It's OFFICIAL! :-)

We're now official homeowner's of property in Lenexa, KS! (That still sounds so crazy to say that we LIVE in Kansas now! Yikes!) It's been a VERY, LONG, INTERESTING day, though!

We started off this morning with a final walk through of the house, which was great and then we headed to the bank to close. Our realtor took a different route and said she'd meet us there. Well, on the way I unfortunately realized that I had taken my purse into the house and FORGOT it there! But, we didn't have the keys yet - so, here were are driving on the Interstate with my purse, which also had my cellphone in it -- back at the house as we drive to the bank. We had no way to get ahold of the realtor because her number was only on MY cellphone....in my purse, back at the house! Then, in all this we realized we missed our exit and before we knew it we were clear over in Grandview, which is about 15 minutes past where we wanted to be! We finally got turned around and made it to the bank, only to inform our realtor of the mix up, who then had to go back to the house and get my purse for me! Ooooh vey!!! That was the only the beginning......... LOL

We had to purchase a refrigerator so we decided to check out Nebraska Furniture Mart which is 20 minutes North of us, but absolutely HUGE! Well, we get up there and start looking and the salesman asks us the dimensions of the opening, and Steve and I just looked at each other blankely, rolled our eyes, and admitted that we'd forgotten all about measuring the opening -- we just knew we needed a refrigerator! Then, my flip flop broke off and so here I am trying to walk around the store, dragging my shoe, trying to keep it on somewhat. I'm sure I looked quite ridiculous and I'm sure we gave the salesman cause for wondering how serious we really were! What could we say? We haven't slept much and we're very overwhelmed with details and totally out of our element! LOL

So, we ran back to the house to measure. As soon as we leave, we get a call from the carpet cleaners and we needed to go back and let them in and sign for it. Fine. Then, we leave again to get me some different shoes and the phone company calls and needs us at the house to hook things up. Fine, so we run back. Then, we leave again to look at more refrigerators and Nate starts bawling because he has a horrible headache. The carpet people call us and need us to come back, they're done, but need us to sign something else.

Finally, late afternoon we're at our last store for the refrigerator and finally decide on one and go up to the counter to pay -- only to find out that they can't get it delivered until NEXT WEEK! Well, that doesn't work! So, we just look at each other and decide to leave since Steve had about 5 cellphone calls during that trip to the store! It was so chaotic and such a fiasco! We finally decde that I will goback to NFM and pick one out tomorrow!

Then, after supper we head over to the house and Steve's brother, our friend Kenny, Steve's cousin Doug, and a bunch of kids all begin unloading the moving truck! YIPEEEEEEEEE!!!! They did such a GREAT job getting everything in there and we were so thankful for all their help! Then, another friend, Nate, shows up and helps us finish putting everything where we wanted it and set up all the beds -- it's finally beginning to feel like a home!

I think we've decided to maybe hold off on the wood floors for a couple months and just get settled in for now. They're not as bad as we thought, so we might let them go till fall. We'll see how things go tomorrow! I'm just hoping it goes a bit more smoothly! :-)
