Night Away...

Last night, Chrissy surprised us by saying she had no plans for the night/weekend and she wanted to bless us by taking care of the boys for us so that Steve and I could get in a little 'get away' if we wanted to. She knew we weren't able to be together on our recent anniversary, so she wanted to give us an opportunity to get away alone this weekend! We were shocked! It's her last weekend here before she moves to be closer to her to soon-to-be-husband, so she offered to watch the boys and have us get away for a night. She said she'd love to bless us! We were blown away, so excited, packed a bag, and left!!!!!!! lol

We had no idea what we were going to do or where we were going to go, but we were thrilled to have child care and knew we needed to take her up on it! lol We also realized it has been FOUR YEARS since we got away, alone, overnight, with no agenda other than to spend time together and enjoy each other! Far too long and we were beyond excited to have the opportunity and couldn't hardly wipe the smiles off our faces or stop giggling! It was really 'pathetic' how 'googly-eyed' we lovebirds were! lol

In June we celebrated 15 years of marriage and we were apart since Steve was working in Iowa! So, this was like a delayed anniversary trip away! :)

We ended up going to the Legends at Village West, just north of us in KC. It's not very far away, but it felt like we were so far away! ;) After going out for supper to Granite City, we got a hotel room at the nearby Hampton Inn and settled in for the night. It was a really nice place, for a good price, and oh so relaxing!

This morning, we got up and ate breakfast, went for a long walk together, went back to the hotel and rested and just spent time together doing nothing -- just talking, talking, talking! :) We love just being together with no agenda other than to enjoy each other! We can talk for hours and love every minute of it! After Steve working out of town for 5 weeks, it was the best 'gift' we could have received -- just time together!!!!!!!

We went out for lunch today and just talked about how much we loved being married to each other as we gazed across the table and both had tears in our eyes as we reaffirmed our love for each other and committment to being together for the rest of our lives!! I know -- it was pretty sappy, but oh so true!!!!!!!

We had never really been to the Legends, even though it's so close, so it was a great trip 'away' and yet there's a lot of neat shops there and just a fun atmosphere.

It was sooooooooooo relaxing to just get to hang out together and enjoy time away from the 'world' and just be together! We giggled and laughed as if we were newlyweds and had such a good time together. It wasn't rushed and we loved every minute of just being together! Although we love our boys very much, we were sad when the time ended and we had to come back to 'reality'!

And, the boys had a great time with Chrissy, and today with Matt, too!

We were so blessed by this 'gift' of time away, alone, to remind ourselves of how grateful we are to get to be on this journey of life together!!!!!!!! We're already planning our next 'get away' and we both guarantee it won't be four years from now, but more like maybe six months!!!!!!! :)
