Family Night

Tonight we had a fun 'family night' just hanging out and enjoying each other. We decided to play "Scattergories". For those that don't know, the object of the game is to roll this 'dice' that has letters on it and then there's a buzzer, and before the timing buzzer goes off, you have to use the letter than was rolled to 'answer' "questions". (That's a bad description, but hopefully you'll know the game! LOL) Anyway, we had a ton of fun together! I wasn't sure if Nate would be able to do it, but he did better than we could have expected. For example, once we rolled the letter "p" and then he had to do a color and an auto part. What's Nate do? He writes, 'periwinkle' for the color and 'piston' for the car part! (He even beat me on that one!) Brennan, on the other hand, was trying to figure out any way to beat his Dad! They had a friendly competition going on! And, Brennan decided to change his tactic and use his new Spanish! We're still not sure if that should be allowed, but it worked for him, I guess! As for me, I was just plain terrible -- I don't think well under pressure, what can I say?! LOL
But, we had a few 'interesting' statements that made us laugh and laugh! Steve was trying so hard to come up with all these 'grand' statements, but they just made us laugh so hard! Here's a few of his more 'interesting' ones:

Letter "B" - spice: and he puts "Butter" ?????????????? (he thought this would work since it has salt in it!)
Letter "M" - a sport: he puts "Mushball"????????????? (he meant "Squash"!)
Letter "M" - a bird: he puts "Monarch"??????? (uh, honey, I think that's a butterfly!)

We laughed so hard! Steve tried so hard to get the words to pass and tried to keep a straight face, but eventually he would start laughing so hard, at one point, he had tears streaming down his face, so I had to snap a photo! LOL

After the fun game time, we all had to go outside and admire Steve's hard work in putting up some Christmas lights tonight! We're looking a little more festive, at least! LOL We have a hodge podge of lights going on, because we're 'cheapskates' and are just using lights others have given us, so nothing matches! LOL But ALL of our neighbors have lights out, so we figured we should at least have a few and try to be somewhat 'in' with our neighborhood! We laughed that for all we knew our neighborhood would be a street to come see the lights or something! LOL! But, this being our first Christmas in this house we also want to make it a bit festive and have fun decorating this year. And, Steve got us off to a start and did a good job, didn't he? :)

ahhh...keeping up with the neighbors..very important. i never had lights at the house with doug and john...i wish that we did. and of course no lights in puerto rico. i believe that there is a law that single men do not do christmas decorations.
